I am a former teacher, mother of a first grader, and owner of a freelance writing business, Workhorse Writing Solutions. I hope you will find the information in this topic relates to what parents and educators are talking about.

I have a Bachelor's Degree in Child Development from Colby-Sawyer College, with a specialization in Early Childhood Education. Aside from working in a preschool setting, I was a second grade teacher in a public school. This is where I was "in the trenches," so to speak, and where I learned what really makes classroom learning successful. I then joined the Maine Nutrition Network, where I helped provide free nutrition education materials and training to over 600 Maine teachers. I firmly believe that learning, good nutrition, and regular physical activity go hand-in-hand for children.
